 Part III. Italy. 47. Medical Wisdom [March 15, 1348]

If you haven't noticed yet, Bávlos has a habit of meeting Dominicans named Peter. Pietro here is an Italian version of Pekka, filled with the same smugness that so irritates Bávlos.

The reference here to Santa Maria della Scala as the place where chamberpots were dumped comes from the Decameron.
