This site examines the healing knowledge that Johan Turi (1854-1936) presents in his text Muitalus Sámiid birra (An Account of the Sámi) (1910) as well as in the co-authored Sámi deavsttat/Lappish Texts (1918-19). Sámi quotations are taken from Mikael Svonni's 2010 edition of Muitalus and from Nills Erik Hansegård's 1988 edition of Sámi deavsttat. English quotations are taken from the 2011 English translation An Account of the Sámi by Thomas A. DuBois and from Gudmund Hatt's original 1918-19 translations of Sámi deavsttat.
