In this chapter, I wanted to show Bávlos feeling in awe of both the grandeur of this major city and the imposing presence of the bishop. I wanted to underscore how daunting this undertaking is for him, how disorienting, and how potentially dangerous. Turku and the bishop come off as cold compared to Hattula, but that's city life...
